2. You’ll also gain access to Pinterest ads to promote your pins and reach more potential customers.

3. Plus, business accounts allow you to display your brand name prominently and add a verification badge, which builds credibility with your audience.

Here is how to switch to a business account –

Log in to your personal Pinterest account.

Click Settings (in the top-right corner of the arrow-down icon).

Click Account management on the left.

Under Account changes, click Convert to a business account.

Click the Convert account button.

Now, let’s fill out your profile information.

How to Optimize a Pinterest Business Profile

Title – Add your brand name and main keywords.

Description – keep it short and add your keywords. If you have a lead magnet, you can paste the URL of this page in the description to increase the number of subscribers to your email list.

Username – Pick a username that will match your brand name. This would be your Pinterest URL

How to Get a Banner on Pinterest

Pick a design that matches your niche. Here are some guidelines to follow:

1. “Image must be at least 800 pixels wide x 450 pixels tall. Using a horizontal image with a 16:9 aspect ratio is recommended.” (Pinterest Help Center)

2. Open Canva and select ‘Custom Size’ and create a banner size according to the above guidelines.

3. Choose a relevant image from Canva and drag it to your design.

4. Download the design to your computer and name the file your brand name.

5. Upload your Pinterest banner to your profile and save.

How to add a profile picture on Pinterest

1. Create a design on Canva with dimensions of 165X165 px.

2. If you have a logo for your business, the profile picture would be the perfect place for it.

3. You don’t need to create your profile picture as a circle; when you upload your design, it will automatically be cropped into a circle.

Create Pinterest Boards

1. Search for relevant keywords on Pinterest and choose the most relevant ones for your boards. Use one keyword for each board name.

2.  How many boards should you create for a new business account?

5 boards are enough. Don’t create too many boards at once, as you won’t be able to keep up with the pace of publishing new pins to them all the time (I learned this from Megan Johnson in her Pinterest Ninja Course).

3. Optimize the boards’ titles and descriptions for Pinterest SEO

4. Save 10-15 other people’s pins to your boards.

Search for your boards’ keywords on Pinterest and save pins that show up at the top of search results—these are the most viral pins on Pinterest.

5. Choose one of your pins to show up as a board cover for every board

Which pins to create? A mix of image and video pins is best. However, it is important to remember that image pins have higher CTR, so it’s better to have more image pins than video pins in the mix.

Post new pins to your board every day. 3 to 5 pins a day is a great plan to start growing fast. However, the most important thing is to stay consistent, so if you can only post 1 pin a day to stay consistent, then do that.

Pinterest SEO

  • Choose a primary keyword for each pin.

  • Include that keyword in the title and description of the pin.

  • Add additional semantic keywords in the pin description.

  • Include this keyword in your pin file name.

Master Pinterest Traffic

The number of views and clicks you’ll get on your pins and affiliate links will determine if you will actually make money with Pinterest affiliate marketing! Mastering Pinterest traffic is a skill that you need to learn.

My Pinterest strategy follows (although I should say that, because of time constraints, I still haven’t implemented everything she teaches in this course).

Join Affiliate Networks

When you have an active Pinterest account and start gaining followers, it is time to start applying for affiliate programs.

Every niche will have the most relevant affiliate programs. However, some of the biggest ones are Amazon Associates, Impact, Target, and Shareasale.

How to Add Affiliate Links on Pinterest

Best ways to add affiliate links to Pinterest pins –

1. Add a Direct Affiliate link to the Destination URL on Pinterest

The simplest way is to add your affiliate link to your pin in the Destination URL field.

When you do that, remember to add an affiliate disclaimer to your description (my guidelines summary below explains more about that).

Tag products to your pin-

Click on ‘Create a Pin’ on the Pinterest Scheduler.

Upload the pin design you created.

Click on the tag icon on the left (this is the one in the middle).

Choose the URL tab and add your affiliate link

Pinterest will find the product image on this page – click the image of this product

Click ‘Save Products’.

Create a Webpage and Add Your Affiliate Links There

You can easily create a webpage using Linktree for free and add as many affiliate links as you like to the same landing page. Here is an example of a webpage I created using Linktree.

Add Your Webpage URL in Your Link in Bio

I have my blog URL in my bio, but if you don’t have a blog, you can put your Linktree URL there. That way, it will show up on your profile page, and people can click on it to see all your recommended products in one place.

Pinterest Affiliate Marketing Guidelines – Must Know

  1. Add Affiliate Disclaimer –
If you are doing affiliate marketing on Pinterest without a blog, you MUST add an affiliate disclaimer in the description of your pins. Examples of this disclaimer could be #Ad, #Sponsored, #Promotion

  2. Some URL shortener services are blocked on Pinterest (for example, Bitly), so it’s better not to use URL shorteners.

  3. Pinterest says to “use affiliate links in moderation.”
As we don’t know exactly the number of pins that will still comply with Pinterest guidelines, mix your affiliate link pins with other pins.
If you are planning to use Pinterest for affiliate marketing without a blog, here are 2 methods you can do that –

    1. Repin other people’s pins.

    2. Create new pins without adding a link to your pin. For example, create a pin with an image of your cheesecake and add the whole recipe in the pin description.

  4. Don’t create a lot of pins for the same URL and schedule them to be posted every few days. This will be regarded as spam and can risk your Pinterest account. It’s better to create 2-3 pins max for the same URL and schedule them to be published in 10-14-day intervals.

  5. If you want to make money with affiliate marketing on Pinterest, you should read the Pinterest Community Guidelines to understand all of the recommendations.

Pinterest Affiliate Marketing Without a Blog – Final Tips

To increase the chances of your pins going viral and bringing more Pinterest traffic and affiliate sales, schedule them to be published when your audience is active on Pinterest. I use Metricool to make sure I have no mistakes. You can sign up for Metricool for free here.

One of the fundamentals of a successful Pinterest marketing strategy is publishing new content on the platform.Pinterest loves new content and to see that you are actually bringing value to the platform.

So, create pins that do not link to your affiliate links. These could include checklists, step-by-step guides, tips, complete recipes, etc.

Be consistent. If you are serious about making money on Pinterest, you must commit to a schedule and stick to it. After a few months, you will start seeing results, which will motivate you to keep going.
